Freeform, surfaced to your exact prescription and calculated for your frame
single vision · progressive
Custom prescription freeform, in single vision and progressive. Digitally shaped to your exact prescription — the point at which a CLIFF lens stops being a stock design and starts being made for your order.
Dynamix is freeform, in single vision and progressive. The surface is computed for the sphere, cylinder, axis and — where the lens is a progressive — the addition on your form, then cut point by point after the order arrives. Wear Fit calculates it for the frame you chose, so the optics are right as worn rather than as measured flat.
It is worth being plain about what that does not include. The design it carries is a standard one: developed once to work across the prescriptions and frames most wearers bring in, rather than selected or tuned for you. Compensation across the whole surface, a choice between designs, and a surface tuned for screen distance all begin at Zenn. What Dynamix buys is exactness where you spend most of your seeing — straight ahead — for a short wait rather than a higher tier.
Which makes it the right lens for a particular wearer: one whose prescription is ordinary in strength and particular in its numbers, in a frame of normal size. If that is your prescription, the money is better spent having it made exactly than on the behavior of the periphery.
It is optimized for your line of sight, not for the whole surface. Look through the middle and it is sharp; toward the edges clarity falls off as the geometry dictates. In a small frame you may never meet that edge. In a large or curved one, you will.
Every Dynamix lens is surfaced to your prescription and calculated for how your frame sits. Dynamix Plus goes one step further and computes the lens for the frame's own dimensions — width, depth, bridge and diagonal — so its thickness and curve are set by the shape it will fill, not by a standard blank. In strong plus and complex prescriptions, where a standard lens is at its thickest, that is the difference between glasses that look right in the frame and glasses that do not — and a lens that is easier to get used to.
When to move up
Dynamix is freeform, surfaced to order and calculated for your frame, in 1.50 through 1.67. What Zenn adds is reach and choice: vision compensated to the very edge of the lens, the design computed around your power and addition, a surface tuned for screen distances, and 1.74 for the strongest prescriptions. It is the answer when the frame is large or curved, when edge blur bothers you, or when the design itself should be chosen rather than standard.
Freeform surfacing is the substantive change. A conventional lens carries its prescription on a molded front surface with the back ground to finish it; the design is limited by which molds exist. A freeform lens is cut point by point by a diamond tool working from a calculated surface map. The design is not selected from a library — it is generated for that order.
The design it carries is a standard one, and that word is doing honest work rather than apologetic work. The progressive geometry was developed once — how quickly power climbs down the corridor, where unwanted astigmatism is allowed to gather and where it is pushed to — to perform consistently across the prescriptions and frame sizes most wearers bring in. It is not adjusted for you, and it is not optimized for the periphery. Through the center of the lens, where most seeing happens, it does not need to be.
In single vision the same manufacture applies without a corridor: the surface is computed and cut for your sphere, cylinder and axis, and Wear Fit solves it for the frame. What Zenn adds here is compensation out to the edge of the lens rather than a different design.
