The CLIFF Promise

Every CLIFF lens leaves the laboratory tested and covered. Four commitments, on every pair.

Coating · every lens

Breakage · 1.60 lenses
12 months

1 — The coating guarantee · 12 months, every lens

For 12 months from your invoice, the coating on your CLIFF lenses is guaranteed against peeling, crazing and delamination in normal use. A coating that fails is not wear — it is a fault, and we replace the lens.

What this covers is the failure that matters: the one that ends a lens's life while the prescription inside it is still perfectly good.

2 — The breakage guarantee · 12 months on 1.60 MR-8

Our 1.60 index lenses are made of MR-8, a material tough enough that we guarantee it against breakage for twelve months. It is the only index in the range that carries this cover — and the reason opticians fit it to rimless frames, where the lens itself bears the mounting screws.

No other clause in this program says as much about a material as this one does.

3 — The adaptation guarantee · 30 days on every progressive

The most common fear about progressive lenses is not adapting to them. So we removed the risk: if within 30 days of your invoice you genuinely cannot adapt to your CLIFF progressive, your optician will refit you — a different design, or a different lens type — under this cover.

Most wearers adapt within two weeks. This guarantee exists for the ones who don't, and it means trying a progressive costs you nothing but the two weeks.

4 — The engraving · on every stock lens and every progressive lens

Every stock lens and every progressive lens carries the CLIFF laser engraving — the CLIFF icon, or the letters CLF. The mark is permanent, nearly invisible in normal wear, and readable under angled light.

The mark is how your optician knows the lens is a CLIFF lens, years later and without paperwork. A numbered certificate with every made-to-order pair records which design was made for you.

Covered — the coating fails

Peeling · crazing · lifting away

Not covered — wear from handling

Scratched while wiped dry

A coating that peels, crazes or lifts from the lens in normal use is a fault, and the lens is replaced. A scratch from wiping a dusty lens dry is wear — and it is the most common reason a claim is declined.

Illustrative · the shape of the principle, not measured data

Honest note: almost every coating claim we decline is a lens cleaned dry while dusty. Rinse first — it's the single habit that doubles a coating's life.
