When you email us, we collect the details you provide, typically your name, email address and your message.

When you type a profession into Find Your Lens and we do not recognize it, we record that word or phrase, and when it was typed, so that we can add the professions people actually look for. Nothing is stored beside it — no IP address, no session, no device information — and it is not linked to you or to anything else you do on the site.

When you verify a certificate, we receive the serial number you enter.

We do not create consumer accounts and we do not take payments on this site.

To answer inquiries and to confirm that a certificate serial is registered.

We keep minimal technical logs to run and protect the site. We do not use advertising trackers, and nothing on this site profiles you or follows you to other sites.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count how the site is used. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier for you, so it cannot recognize you between visits or across sites. It records page views, and five things people do: choosing a profession in Find Your Lens, reaching a lens recommendation, following a stockist link, checking a certificate, and opening our email address. For a certificate check it records only whether the serial was found, never the serial itself.

When a certificate serial is checked, nothing about you or the check is stored. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a short period, as described below.

We set one cookie, and only after an optician enters the counter access code. It records that the code was entered correctly, not the code itself, so the pages stay unlocked for ninety days. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this site. The analytics described above are cookieless, which is why this site asks you to accept nothing.

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., which receives standard server logs in the course of serving pages. The lens verification database is hosted by Supabase on infrastructure located in Mumbai, India. Email sent to us is handled by our email provider.

We do not sell or share personal data with anyone for advertising.

CLIFF EYEWEAR LLC is based in the United States. The site is served by Vercel's global network and the verification database is in India, so information you send may be processed outside your own country. We apply the same care wherever it is held.

The verification database describes lenses: serial number, product line, index, coating, treatment and date of issue. It does not contain your name, your prescription or any other information about you.

Twelve months, then deleted.

Emails and inquiries

Twenty-four months from your last message, or longer while a warranty claim is open and the record is needed to honor it.

Analytics

Counts only. Nothing is linked to you, so there is nothing to keep about you.

Data travels over encrypted connections, and access is limited to the people who need it to do the job. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affected your data, we would tell you as the law requires.

This site is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it or delete it, or ask us to stop using it. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

How to ask. Email info@clifflens.com from the address you used with us, and say what you want. We will acknowledge within ten days and answer within forty-five. If a request is complex we may need another forty-five days, and we will tell you why before we take them. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

There is usually very little to find. We hold no account for you, and nothing at all unless you have emailed us.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the data-protection authority where you live.

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date above.
